-
Tall bamboo reaching a height of 8 meters and culms with a
diameter of up to 5
cm.
-
The young culms are green but
begin to darken towards the end of the first season,
gradually turning into a very deep dark brown color until they
reach maturity. The shoots develop in late May and early June.
-
This species does not run, and is thus very well suited as
a specimen plant. The dark brown to black culms are highly decorative.
-
Hardy
down to -25°C
Other
Forms:
-
'Nigra': culms are completely black but this forms remains small, below 3 m.
-
Megurochiku': the culms are brown
like 'Punctata' but its sulcus is black.
Neither
forms grow as well as Boryana
or Henonis, but are highly attractive, especially as pot
plants. Black stems and the black sulcus create a beautiful
contrast. |
